Museum of the Jewish People

Presented here is the story of 2,500 years of the diaspora (Jews who settled outside Israel). It begins with the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem in 586 BC and chronicles such major events as the exile to Babylon and the expulsion from Spain in 1492. Photographs and text labels provide the narrative, and films and music enhance the experience. One highlight is a replica collection of miniature synagogues throughout the world, both those destroyed and those still functioning. Another is the computerized genealogy section, where it's possible to look up Jewish family names to determine their origins. There's a music center with Jewish music from around the world and a children's gallery with interactive exhibits. The museum is on the Tel Aviv University Campus in the Ramat Aviv neighborhood.
